Princess Beth's Amazing Day!

Today Beth had her last swim lesson (of this session). There was a test to pass to move on to the next level. Beth had to swim the length of the pool with no assistance and then swim the length of the pool backstroke. She has never done this! The only time she has made it across the pool has been with a kickboard. Ok, generally this is not a big deal. Children taking lessons should get to this point. But we must remember - this girl would not put her face in the water last summer and cried when she was splashed! At her first lesson last fall, the coach had to pry her off the steps, and then she cried the entire drive home because she couldn't believe they made her go in the water. She kept asking, "why can't I learn to swim with my face out of the water?" Fast forward...she got over it. She figured it out. This success was huge and made our Top 10 Events of 2010 list. And today, as she swam her last few backstrokes to the wall, this proud momma was tearing up. Here she is receiving her official, "you passed high-5" from her coach. And here she is swimming freestyle across the pool. I know she needs a lot of work but she did it!

And then...as if that wasn't enough excitement for one day...Andrew took Jason and Beth to his work dinner "team building" evening at Medieval Times. Wouldn't you know it, their knight chose Beth to be the "Queen of Love and Beauty" handing her the royal sash, which she proudly wore the rest of the evening. (I have better pictures taken by their photographers, which a proud Daddy bought for his princess, but my scanner software is having issues...someday!) What an incredible end to a fabulous day!
