We've been studying rocks and had the opportunity to visit a local rock quarry. 
I was very impressed with the program that included cookies and juice, a short movie, 
an extensive rock display showing everyday uses for rocks (make-up, toothpastes, etc...)
complete with dinosaur poop (that rock above Jill's head), 
free hats, 
a view of the quarry 
and the sorters, 
and an up close look at some really big trucks!

It was a fun field trip and quite the learning experience but the real reason we're studying rocks is to understand why Jesus should be our Rock! 
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who builds his house upon the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25
